What Young Minds are Pondering During Off-Site Instruction!
Junior High student, Michael Haller, has always been curious about the ratios of Froot Loop colors. So last week he decided to sort it out.
He weighed each color (weight in oz) then calculated the percentages. Then he discussed how to compare the ratios too, with so many comparisons you could make!
Blue: 1.4, 6%
Green: 2.85, 13%
Purple: 3.02, 14%
Red: 5.61, 26%
Yellow: 2.94, 13%
Orange: 6.03, 28%
Total weight: 21.85 oz.
Learning enriched through home projects...
Go Indians!

WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD WHILE LEARNING AT HOME
We understand that during this time of your child's home instruction, it can be stressful at times. Below are some recommendations for you to help your child be successful, and to help you lower the stress level:
• Establish a daily routine that supports your child’s learning. If you can, find a comfortable, quiet space to work.
• Check your child’s online communication every day:
o Fort Davis student email (grades 6-12)
o Google Classroom (grades 2-12)
o College emails/Blackboard accounts (some in grades 11-12)
• Create a calendar or list of assignments and when they are due. Post on the fridge or another place that everyone can see.
• Complete assignments fully and on time (paper and/or online for grades PK-5) and (online only for grades 6-12). Teachers are recording grades and providing feedback. Parents will continue to receive report cards and progress reports.
• Email the teachers if you have questions or issues. Email addresses are located at www.fdisd.com
• Email the technology director for computer or internet issues at lgonzalez@fdisd.com
• Email the principal for other questions or concerns at:
o ascott@fdisd.com for students in grades PK-5
o slporter@fdisd.com for students in grades 6-12
• Email the counselor for assistance at tbaker@fdisd.com
• Take breaks, play, be active
We miss our students and will see you soon! Go Indians!

We miss our students and hope you are all well. The most important thing you can do right now is stay at home, practice social distancing, wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, disinfect frequently touched surfaces and avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
