The district is rated year on its student academic performance, community engagement, and financial status. Ratings are usually determined, and posted, in December for the preceding school year. The district holds public hearings, again usually in December or January, for the academic and financial ratings.

The Texas School Accountability Dashboard

The dashboard, designed to provide the public with easily accessible accountability information

The dashboard, designed to provide the public with easily accessible accountability information, includes the four indexes that are the basis for the state’s accountability system and gives a summary of state, district, and school performance. The dashboard makes it possible to find clear and concise accountability information and demographics for an individual school, an entire school district, or the state as a whole and also allows users to compare performance between districts or schools. Note that districts are not statutorily required to disseminate the dashboard reports to their board of trustees or local communities but may choose to provide a link to the reports from their local website.

The TPRS is the most comprehensive state academic accountability report published by the Texas Education Agency. It combines data previously released in state accountability reports and shows results for student groups that were not previously reported separately. The TPRS provides performance and participation assessment results for the following additional student groups:

  • Economically Disadvantaged/Non-Economically Disadvantaged

  • Male/Female

  • Special Education/Non-Special Education

  • At Risk/Non-At Risk

  • Migrant/Non-Migrant

  • English Language Learners (ELLs)

  • Career and Technical Education (CTE)/Non-CTE

  • Bilingual Education/English as a Second Language

Furthermore, the TPRS enables anyone to view STAAR performance results for all students, regardless of whether they were included in the accountability subset. The tabbed layout is designed to provide easy access to different reports for a campus, district, region, or the entire state in a single browser window. Additionally, the data download allows users to view the raw data used to determine the results shown in both the Texas Academic Performance Report and TPRS.
