Hey volleyball fans... The varsity volleyball game scheduled for August 20 has been changed to a dual meet in Van Horn. It will not be here in Fort Davis. We play Sierra Blanca at 5 and Van Horn after that game ends. Go Indians!

Dirks-Anderson Elementary will host its annual Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round Up registration from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, August 15 at the school library. Pre-K is now a free full-day program for children who will be 4-years-old on or before September 1, 2019. Required documents for registration include birth certificate, social security card, immunizations records, and parent/guardian identification and proof of residence

Volleyball has midnight madness fever! Working hard on the court already. The FDHS volleyball season begins this Saturday with scrimmages in Alpine. Go Indians!

Athletic Physicals for students in grades 6-12 Any student in grades 6-12 who is interested in participating in sports during the 2019-2020 school year will need to have a current physical on file with the school. Free physicals are scheduled at Dr. Luecke’s office in Fort Davis as follows: Girls July 30 from 8:30am-11:30am Boys July 30 from 2:30pm-4:30pm It is acceptable, at your own expense, to receive a physical by a doctor of your choice. Forms were mailed to all FDISD students in those grade levels.Forms may also be obtained from the high school office. Please contact us at 432-426-4444.

The Bob Dillard Family would like to invite all who knew and loved Bob to join them for a Celebration of his life on Saturday August 3, at 6:00 at the Kelly Outdoor Pravillion, in Fort Davis, behind the Chamber of Commerce. There will be a BBQ to follow in "BOB'S STYLE". Cheer received another spirit stick for day two at cheer camp in San Angelo. Chief Victorio was nominated for All-American, received a blue ribbon for his game day performance. (Highest achievement ). All-American Nominees: Lariot Urias Natalie Gallegos Kayden Gray Miranda Valenzuela Rebekah Hicks Irene Granado Maite Morales Chelsea Hernandez Chelsea Hernandez, Rebekah Hicks, and Miranda Valenzuela made All-American Cheerleader.

FD cheer earned a blue ribbon (highest achievement) for their Gameday Cheer Performance today at UCA cheer camp at San Angelo State University. FD cheer squads received a spirit stick and Rebekah Hicks received the Pin It Forward Award from UCA staff.

Fort Davis FFA is having a wonderful start to the Texas FFA State Convention. Tonight will be a memorable night for their Chapter as Penn Merrill receives his Lone Star Degree at his last FFA State Convention. Go Green! 💙💛

Submissions can include paintings, drawings, sculpture, jewelry, and collage. Use your imagination! Where: Drop off your hummingbird art in the art boxes at the library or at the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce during business hours. Your artwork will be displayed at the library. When: All entries must be received by Aug. 15. The art show will run from Aug. 20-29. Rules: All artwork must have the artist’s name, age, and contact information on the back. Missoula Children’s Theatre is here this week preparing its fun version of Aladdin. Area children practice for a week and then curtains open on Saturday. There will be two shows - 2 pm and 7 pm. Free admission. This annual event is hosted by Fort Davis Children’s Theatre

FDISD Board of Trustees attending TASB Summer Leadership Institute training in San Antonio. House Bill 3, and other legislation, has created significant changes to many areas of public education. Thank You to the Board for their dedication!

Our school year ended with some amazing volunteers reading to all of our students. Volunteers from Fort Davis, Alpine, and Marfa made the year special. Read Fort Davis will begin again in October. We can't wait to see what a new year of Read Fort Davis brings!
