Thanks to a Texas Workforce Solutions, Borderplex Education Grant, Fort Davis High School was able to begin a Robotics program for the 2018 - 2019 school year. With this grant, we were able to purchase VEX Robotics Dual Control Starter Kits and VEX IQ Super Kits as well as the Competition Field Perimeter Kit. We were able to initiate two classes with a total of seven students for the 2018-2019 school year and have had at least triple that number of students interested in these classes for this school year. In our pioneer classes, students were able to design, build, troubleshoot and then rebuild four robots. They took two of their robots to their first competition in Pecos, TX and managed to show very respectable places in the middle of the field. These courses are so important because they allow students to have real “hands on” training in modern day skills. They have learned programming but they have also used engineering skills, problem solving skills, and collaborative skills they never knew they had. As a result of this course, they are now aware of a multitude of robotics related careers in medicine, engineering, entertainment, and education.

Mrs. Mussey and graduate book
Your purchase of yearbooks and graduate books helps our environment. We have partnered with TreeRing for the production of our yearbooks. "TreeRing’s environmental roots go deeper than our name. We kinda like this planet, so we’ve partnered with Trees for the Future to plant a tree for every yearbook purchased. In addition, we print on recycled paper and only produce the exact number of books parents buy, eliminating unnecessary waste and resources. Not only can our school partners feel good about providing students and parents with a yearbook that captures their personal memories, they can also have confidence in the sustainable and environmentally conscious approach we take in producing them. It’s the least we can all do for the next generation." At least 130 trees will be planted for the 2018-2019 books!
